DID Press: Military sources reported a violent confrontation among the crew of the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, in an incident that reportedly left at least seven people dead and dozens more injured, further escalating tensions aboard the vessel.
A military source familiar with the matter said that following widespread protests by the families of the Abraham Lincoln’s crew, an adviser to Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), boarded the carrier in an effort to calm the situation. However, the adviser’s speech was met with strong protests from personnel and the throwing of water bottles, eventually escalating into a physical confrontation among crew members involving knives and other sharp weapons.
The incident has so far reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven people and injuries to dozens of others, while conditions aboard the carrier remain tense, according to the sources. The carrier is currently deployed in the Indian Ocean, and its main mission has reportedly been described as enforcing a maritime blockade against Iran.
The crew had previously complained about difficult living conditions, including inadequate food, the prolonged suspension of laundry services and fungal contamination in sanitary areas. CENTCOM has so far not provided an explanation for these conditions.
In a similar incident in February 2026, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford reportedly suffered a major fire that affected accommodation areas housing 600 crew members and injured more than 200 people. The carrier was forced to withdraw and return to the United States after the injured personnel were transferred to a naval base in Crete, Greece, and remained under repair until the following spring.
