UN Commission: Israel Committed War Crimes and Genocide in Gaza

DID Press: UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has stated that Israel committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territory and continued acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip, even after the ceasefire agreement.

According to the report, Israeli forces committed crimes including extermination, torture, persecution, rape and other forms of sexual violence, and deliberately targeted Palestinian civilians.

The report also states that conditions in the occupied West Bank have deteriorated sharply since October 7, 2023, with Palestinians targeted on grounds including nationality, race, ethnicity, gender and age.

The Commission of Inquiry further said that, since the 1947–1948 war, Israel has pursued territorial expansion and the displacement of Palestinians through violence.

The commission called on Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice’s July 2024 advisory opinion, end its unlawful occupation of Palestinian territory, dismantle settlements and return confiscated land to its Palestinian owners.
