Punjab Orders Arrest of Undocumented Afghan Migrants
DID Press: Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, has ordered the arrest of all Afghan nationals residing in the province without valid legal residency documents.

According to published reports, the directive applies to Afghan migrants who lack valid residency papers in Punjab and will be implemented as part of the Pakistani government’s measures to identify and detain undocumented migrants.
Meanwhile, Afghan migrants in Pakistan have faced increasing reports of arbitrary arrests, mistreatment, forced deportations and mounting restrictions in recent months.
The intensification of these measures has heightened concerns about the legal status and safety of Afghan migrants, particularly families, women and children.
