Bamyan Joins UNESCO GNLC

The central Bamyan City has joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC), according to local officials in the province.



The central Bamyan City has joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC), according to local officials in the province.

Bamyan is the first city in Afghanistan to become a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC).

Appreciating the national and international colleague, Bamyan governor M. Tahir Zahir said the municipality, information and culture departments have done much work in this regard.
Local authorities say Bamyan has also been a leading province in literacy education across the country in 1396/2017.

In 2015, Bamyan province also succeeded in becoming a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of local crafts and arts.

Bamyan is among the safe provinces of Afghanistan where most of the cultural institutions have called for investment in the past few years.
