Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump have held a phone call on Syria on Friday.

“Bilateral issues and the most recent developments in Syria, including security issues and counter-terrorism efforts, were discussed,” the Turkish Presidency said in a statement, noting that the phone call was held early Dec. 14. Daily news reported.
The two leaders agreed on the need for more effective coordination within the context of Syria, the statement added.

This comes as the Turkish president had earlier said that Turkish forces will enter the Syrian town of Manbij if the U.S. does not remove Kurdish militants.
