NATO expresses concerns over security status in Sar-e Pul
“The situation in Sar-e Pul province is alarming and violence and destruction hinder Afghanistan development,” said Cornelius Zimmerman, a NATO civilian representative in Afghanistan.
“I am very worries about the reports of killing dozens of men, women and children and taking hostage families in Sar-e Pul province,” a statement released by NATO, quoted from Mr. Cornelius Zimmerman.
Mr. Zimmerman stressed that NATO stands firmly with the people and the Afghan government to ensure peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Sar-e Pul governor Zahir Wahdat has warned the central administration and the international community that if they do nothing about Mirzaulang – an area in Sar-e Pul’s Sayyad district – Taliban will massacre all residents.
Mr. Wahdat also had said that confronting Taliban in Sar-e Pul province is out of the Afghan security forces ability.
Mirzaulang is a strategic area in Sar-e Pul province that capturing the area pave the way for entering Sayyad district, and Sayyad district is the door of Sar-e Pul’s capital city.
