Rahmatullah Nabil:
New Internal, External signs of Proxy war Surfacing in Afghanistan
Former head of National Directorate of Security (NDS) Rahmatullah Nabil says the Afghan people should be mindful of the sensitive regional environment and not assume responsibility for another proxy war.
Rahmatullah Nabil twitted Thursday that the Afghan people should be mindful of the sensitive regional environment and not assume responsibility for another proxy conflict in the region and find a logical solution for the sake of well-being of Afghanistan.
“The Soviet Union entered Afghanistan unilaterally and by force, they left behind a legacy of a destructive war, though blamed the Afghans for all the destruction. According to Khalilzad the US also needed no permission to enter Afghanistan and needs no permission to leave Afghanistan,” he said.
According to him, the Afghan people hope that this time the legacy will not be another destructive war.
“Afghans should be mindful of the sensitive regional environment and not assume responsibility for another proxy conflict in the region and find a logical solution for the sake of well-being of Afghanistan,” he stressed.
He underlined that unfortunately, Afghanistan are seeing internal and external signs of inviting regional players for imposing a new round of a violent proxy war, based on their competing agendas.
Mr Nabil made the remarks in response to reports that President Trump would order a further reduction of US troops from Afghanistan.
