Next phase of Inter-Afghan talks to Begin in Qatar: HCNR
The leadership committee of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) announced Sunday that the next round of inter-Afghan peace talks will begin in Doha on its determined time.
Abdullah Abdullah, head of the HCNR, said that the joint meeting of the leadership committee of with the government’s negotiating team concluded on Sunday.
“The leadership committee after consulting with the peace support group decided that the next round of peace talks will take place in Doha Qatar,” Dr Abdullah said.
The leadership committee appreciated the continued support of international community for peace in Afghanistan and thanked the state of Qatar for hosting the next round of the talks.
“The leadership committee reiterated its full support for the Republic’s negotiation team, and decided on a clear guideline for the team on the next round of the talks,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that the government of Afghanistan had previously suggested that the next round of peace talks should be held anywhere inside Afghanistan. The next round of inter-Afghan talks is expected to resume on 5 Jan. 2021.
