The former Energy and Water Minister Ali Ahmad Usmani said during a press conference in Kabul on Sunday that president Ghani is interfering in the works of Ministers.

During the press conference, Usmani called on the president “to allow the ministers carry out their duties, even if it was against his will, adding that to give up insulting individuals and that to conduct fundamental work for the country”.

The former Energy and Water minister particularly reminded the agreement which formed the National Unity government, saying that “president Ghani should not break his commitments.
“The citizens of the country should not allow the NUG to move toward dictatorship,” Usmani continued.

This comes as president Ghani has recently dismissed Ali Ahmad Usmani as the Energy and Water Minister.
It is said that personal differences between Usmani and president Ghani led to his dismissal.
Ali Ahmad Usmani became the Minister of Water and Energy via the team of CEO Abdullah Abdullah.

It is said that the resignation of Finance Minister – who was a close ally of president Ghani – was also part of the agreement between Abdullah and Ghani over the dismissal of the Water and Energy Minister.
