The source added that during the negotiations between Ata Mohammad Noor and the presidency, the return of General Dostum to the country was initiated by Mr. Noor, and the presidency also accepted it will slowly pave the way for Mr. Dostum to return to the country.
In the meantime, sources close to general Dostum also confirm that Mr Dostum will soon return to the country in the near future, saying these days negotiations ongoing between deputy of General Dostum and the presidency regarding the issue.
“Dostum wants the charges on him and Ishchi’s case should be closed and the president should give the authorities of first vice president,” said Mohammad Azim Qoyash, a close person to Mr Dostum.
“Machiavelli policies are not effective in Afghanistan anymore! General Dostum has the right to return to the country and carry out his duty,” said Mr Noor at a gathering.
Meanwhile, a number of National Assembly members say that General Dostum’s long absence as the VP has created a legal vacuum in the government’s structure.
“The absence of first VP has legally created a series of problems,” said Khudadat Erfani, an MP.
Although the presidency has not commented on the status of general Abdul Rashid Dostum, sources close to Mr Dostum say he will soon return to the country.
The country’s first VP is abroad for more than a year.
