The representatives of the people of Ghazni province at the parliament reacted against the election commission’s decision, saying that it is against the constitution, following controversies over holding an election in the province.
The MPs emphasized that they will stand up against this decision even at the cost of the country’s destruction.
Earlier this week, the election commission decided to divide Ghazni province into three electoral zones.

“We – the representatives of Ghazni – consider the zone-based measure regarding the election in the province as a cruel decision by the government and will not accept the decision even at the cost of the country’s destruction,” said M. Arif Rahmani, the representative of the people of Ghazni during the parliament’s Wednesday session.
“The election commission’s decision to zone-base the election in the province is a scandalous and unfair decision,” Mr Rahmani accentuated.

Abdul Qayyum Sajjadi, another MP, said the election commission violated the article 35, 36 and 71 of the electoral law by dividing Ghazni into three electoral zones and if the law broke in Ghazni, the people of Afghanistan would not witness a transparent and fair election in any province.
“The election commission agreed with the illegitimate decision of the government in this decision. This issue is a big deal of the politicians, not the problem of the people,” Mr Sajjadi added.
According to him, the government has to provide the security in the insecure districts of Ghazni province so that people can go to polling stations; but the election commission should not be the victim of illegitimate demands of some circles.

Chaman Shah Etimadi, another MP from Ghazni province said: the electoral zone-based decision in the province is baseless and it has been taken based on discrimination and power.
Considering the decision as the beginning of a new crisis in Ghazni province, he said: “when some say that the representatives of Ghazni province is from Hazara ethnic group and not accepted by Pashtun; then, how we should accept a governor and police chief from Pashtun brothers in the province”.

However, the representatives of Ghazni province emphasized that the issue to zone-base the election has passed and the government has changed a technical issue to a political one.
