US Envoy Khalilzad Briefed Talks with UN, HPC Officials


US state department’s special representative on Afghan peace process ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad briefed HPC chief M. Karim Khalili, the UN’s Secretary General’s special representative on Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto and the ambassadors of some other countries, the details of his latest round of talks with Taliban.

“No one has a monopoly on the diplomacy of peace and all have contributions to make,” Khalilzad twitted.
“Ensuring lasting and fair peace will take time and must be fully inclusive, respecting Afghan sovereignty,” UNAMA head said during a meeting with Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib on Monday.

The participants of the meeting emphasised on the importance of intra-Afghan dialogue and an inclusive peace process.
