US Envoy Khalilzad Meets NSA Mohib

Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib met with US Special Representative on Afghan peace ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Wednesday afternoon and discussed peace efforts.


Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib met with US Special Representative on Afghan peace ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Wednesday afternoon and discussed peace efforts.

The meeting focused on various issues, particularly peace process and joint coordination between the two sides as well as international consensus for bringing peace in Afghanistan, the office of national security council (ONSC) said in a statement.
“Currently, the military strength and capabilities of the Afghan security and defense forces have proved its position in protecting and safeguarding the values and national interests of the country,” said NSA Hamdullah Mohib.

Zalmay Khalilzad the U.S. Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation assured that people of America stand with the Afghan people and continue their efforts.
This comes as Taliban group warned if pressures continue on its members, peace talks with America will be stalled.

Mr Khalilzad, meanwhile, in a meeting with president Ghani and his senior national security team as well as civil society and media, said we agreed military pressure is essential while we prepare to engage in negotiations for peace.

“The U.S. and our partners are proud of our longstanding support to Afghan security forces and will continue to do our part to back them,”
“Unity and shared resolve are vital when detractors of peace try to divide Afghans,” he added.
