Thousands Sit Afghanistan’s 2026 University Entrance Exam in Herat
DID Press: National university entrance exam, known as the Kankor, has officially begun in Herat with the participation of nearly 3,500 students.

According to local education officials, graduates from high schools and religious schools took part in the examinations, with participation figures showing a notable increase compared to last year.
Authorities overseeing the exams said the process was conducted in an organized manner with necessary preparations and security measures in place. The examinations are being held simultaneously across 15 provinces of Afghanistan.
Education officials stated that the rise in the number of applicants reflects growing interest among Afghan youth in pursuing higher education despite ongoing economic and social challenges.
Several participants also expressed hope for improved educational opportunities and broader access to universities and academic institutions in the future.
