Iran–US War-Ending Talks Advance as Draft Texts Move Closer

DID Press: A well-informed source says negotiations between Iran and United States over ending the war have entered an advanced and decisive stage, with both sides reportedly narrowing differences through multiple rounds of draft exchanges.

According to the source, a shared framework is now emerging after significant convergence between the two sides’ proposals.

The latest U.S. draft reportedly agrees to an immediate declaration of the end of hostilities across all fronts following the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

The position aligns with one of Tehran’s key conditions, which insists that any ceasefire must include all theaters of conflict, including Lebanon. Iran’s revised draft is also said to be based on this principle.

The source added that Washington has accepted the idea of a comprehensive ceasefire upon signing, followed by a 30-day period of negotiations to finalize implementation mechanisms, monitoring systems, and security guarantees to prevent renewed fighting.

Diplomatically, this structure resembles previous regional conflict settlements in which a formal “end of war” declaration precedes technical negotiations.

Recent progress comes as several U.S. officials have also described the talks as moving toward a “workable package,” while independent Washington-based sources say disagreements have been reduced to only a few remaining clauses.

In Tehran, signs of increased engagement have also been observed. The extended visit of Pakistan’s Interior Minister, who is playing an active mediating role, has been interpreted by some analysts as an indication of growing momentum toward agreement.

However, diplomatic sources caution that no final deal has been reached and that disagreements over security details and field arrangements still remain under negotiation.
