Karimi: Afghanistan Can Become a Regional Economic Connectivity Hub

DID Press: Bilal Karimi has emphasized Afghanistan’s strategic geographic position, saying the country has the potential to become a key hub for regional economic connectivity and trade.

Speaking at the Seventh China–South Asia Cooperation Forum, Karimi described Afghanistan as a country with significant economic opportunities and considerable investment potential.

He stated that improved security conditions and the government’s focus on economic development have created a more favorable environment for investors and the implementation of economic projects across various sectors.

According to Karimi, the Taliban administration is seeking to expand economic and trade cooperation with regional countries in order to promote economic growth, create jobs, and accelerate infrastructure development.

The Afghan envoy to China highlighted Afghanistan’s geographic location as one of its most important strategic advantages, arguing that the country can serve as a bridge linking South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and China, thereby strengthening regional trade and transit networks.

Karimi also stressed the importance of regional cooperation, saying deeper economic ties among neighboring countries and regional partners could contribute to greater prosperity, stability, and shared economic growth.

He expressed hope that economic engagement between Afghanistan, China, and other regional states would continue to expand, paving the way for joint projects in infrastructure, transportation, energy, and trade.
