Regional Envoys Meet in Almaty to Discuss Afghanistan’s Future
DID Press: Special representatives from the European Union and Central Asian countries met in Almaty on Tuesday for the eighth round of consultations on Afghanistan, focusing on regional connectivity, sustainable development, and the country’s evolving situation.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, discussions centered on current developments in Afghanistan and international efforts aimed at supporting long-term stability and economic growth.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening regional integration through the development of transport, logistics, and transit corridors, with participants highlighting Afghanistan’s potential role as a strategic link connecting Central and South Asia.
Representatives from Central Asian states emphasized the importance of establishing secure and sustainable trade routes to facilitate regional commerce and economic cooperation.
Participants also underscored the need for diplomatic and political approaches to address regional challenges, while promoting good-neighborly relations, confidence-building measures, and broader cooperation between Afghanistan and its regional partners.
Organizers described the gathering as part of ongoing efforts to coordinate regional policies and enhance international engagement on Afghanistan.
