DID Press: Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an armed assault on a Pakistan Coast Guard base in Gwadar, saying more than 30 Pakistani security personnel were killed and dozens wounded. Pakistani authorities have not yet commented on the claims.

In a statement issued Friday evening, the BLA said the attack targeted a Coast Guard camp in the Jiwani area and was carried out by its Majeed Brigade, the group’s suicide unit. According to the statement, a suicide bomber identified as Ataullah Baloch, also known as “Ajmal,” drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the facility at approximately 6:32 p.m. local time, triggering a large explosion.
The separatist group claimed the blast completely destroyed the base. BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said militants then launched a coordinated assault from multiple directions, engaging the remaining Coast Guard personnel.
The group alleged that more than 30 Coast Guard members were killed and dozens injured during the operation, adding that the death toll could rise because of personnel trapped beneath the rubble and critically wounded survivors.
The BLA said it would release further details about the operation and reiterated that attacks against Pakistani security forces would continue until what it described as the “complete independence of Balochistan.”
Pakistan’s military and government authorities have not issued an official response regarding the reported attack or the casualty figures claimed by the militant group.
