UNICEF Delivers AFN 37M in Medical Supplies to Farah Clinics

DID Press: UNICEF has delivered AFN 37 million worth of medical and non-medical equipment to 65 healthcare facilities in Afghanistan’s western Farah Province, as health authorities say the assistance will help ease critical shortages of medical supplies.

According to UNICEF, the aid package includes 116 types of medical equipment and support items, which were officially handed over to the Taliban’s provincial public health department during a ceremony on Thursday.

Dr. Mohammad Wali Ahmadzai, head of the Taliban’s Public Health Department in Farah, said healthcare facilities in the province continue to face severe shortages of essential equipment, adding that the latest assistance will help address some of their most urgent needs.

Ahmadzai also called on international organizations to continue supporting Afghanistan’s healthcare sector through future humanitarian assistance programs.

The assistance comes as many communities across Afghanistan continue to report shortages of medicines, reduced access to healthcare services, and inadequate medical equipment in public health facilities.
