Islamic Jihad: US Political Backing Is Fueling Continuation of Gaza War

DID Press: A senior official of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad has claimed that Israel is continuing its military operations in the Gaza Strip with political support from the United States.

Ismail al-Sindawi, a senior leader of the movement, said Palestinian factions had engaged with proposals aimed at securing a ceasefire, but alleged that Israel had failed to honor its commitments and had instead intensified its military campaign.

Al-Sindawi claimed that the continuation of military operations, the destruction of residential areas across the Gaza Strip, and increasing pressure on civilians form part of Israel’s strategy to alter the situation on the ground.

He also called on the international community to take urgent action to help end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of civilians in Gaza.
