DID Press: Ukrainian officials said at least 17 people were killed and 44 others injured early Wednesday after a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack targeted Kyiv and surrounding areas, marking one of the deadliest aerial assaults on the Ukrainian capital this year.

The Kyiv Military Administration said the attacks began shortly after midnight, with waves of ballistic missiles and attack drones striking multiple areas across the city and its outskirts. Timur Tkachenko, head of the administration, said Kyiv region had come under “heavy strikes” once again.
Air raid sirens remained active for more than an hour, while local officials reported significant damage to residential buildings, warehouses and urban infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said some residents may still be trapped under rubble and that four injured people were in critical condition.
The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation said its forces targeted Ukrainian military support and supply facilities in Kyiv and surrounding areas, including locations involved in weapons storage, arms transfers and drone production. Moscow also claimed that three vessels carrying military equipment were struck near the Odesa region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the death toll and said shortages of air defense systems had contributed to the rising number of casualties. He urged Western partners to accelerate deliveries of air defense equipment.
