Qatari National Security Council Deputy Meets Taliban Interior Minister in Kabul

DID Press: Hamad bin Khamis Al-Kubaisi, Deputy Secretary of Qatar’s National Security Council, has met with Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s acting interior minister, in Kabul, according to Afghan media reports.

The meeting focused on further developing relations between Afghanistan and Qatar, as well as Afghanistan’s constructive engagement and role within the international community, according to a statement cited by Ariana News.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between Kabul and Doha.

The meeting comes amid continued Qatari diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan. Qatar has recently reaffirmed its role as an international partner on Afghanistan, including through mediation, hosting dialogue and efforts to facilitate international coordination.
