DID Press: Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has dismissed U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s remarks on economic pressure against Iran, saying Washington will fail in what Tehran describes as an “economic war” just as it allegedly failed in the “military war.”

Rezaei said Iran would not retreat in the face of U.S. pressure and warned that the Strait of Hormuz would not be reopened through threats or coercion. He made the remarks in a post on X addressed to Bessent and other U.S. officials.
The comments came after Bessent claimed that U.S. economic pressure had significantly constrained Iran’s oil exports and government revenues.
