The IEC leaders apologized to the Afghan people and parties involved in the election for delaying the announcement of preliminary election results, praised their responsible participation in the election.
“Major issues, time management and ensuring transparency of the tally process, but despite technical challenges particularly due to providing transparency, the commission was unable to announce the preliminary results according to the electoral calendar,” election officials said.
According to the IEC, the data of 23,176 biometric devices were transferred to the central server and the data of 2,888 biometric devices that were quarantined due to some problems will be checked in the presence of observers to transfer their data to the central server.
The preliminary results of the presidential elections were expected to be announced on 19 Oct. 2019.
