Radio ‘Nasim’ Silenced in Afghanistan’s Central Highlands

DID Press: Radio Nasim, one of the long-standing local media outlets in Afghanistan’s central regions, announced its cessation of broadcasts.

“Sometimes, time is too merciless to bear certain voices,” the Radio station wrote in an official statement posted on its Facebook page.

The announcement comes just five days after the Daikundi intelligence department detained the station’s director and two of its journalists.

In recent years, Radio Nasim had continued its news and information broadcasts in the central provinces despite mounting restrictions, serving as a platform for local voices.

With its closure, yet another independent media voice was silenced in Afghanistan.
