DID Press: The newly established “Islamic Civilization” center in Tashkent, described as four times taller than the iconic Hollywood sign and roughly seven times larger than the White House, is set to open to the public in March 2026. The three-story complex combines a museum with a research institute and aims to highlight Uzbekistan’s historical and scientific contributions as a key center of Islamic knowledge.

Firdavs Abdulkhaliqov, the center’s director, said the region has produced scholars who influenced global civilization, and the center seeks to present this heritage in an engaging, modern way for the world and younger generations.
Over eight years of construction, 1,500 experts from more than 40 countries contributed to its scientific and architectural design. The interactive educational section uses technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, allowing visitors to “converse” with lifelike portraits of past scholars and thinkers.
The center also aims to spark children’s curiosity in astronomy, medicine, literature, and art. The second floor is dedicated to research, giving international scholars access to over 200,000 volumes in the center’s library.
