Rashid Khan Strongly Supports Afghanistan Women’s National Cricket Team
DID Press: Afghanistan’s global cricket star Rashid Khan reiterated his strong support for the establishment and international participation of Afghanistan women’s national cricket team, expressing hope that the team will soon enter global competitions.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the opening match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Rashid Khan said he fully supports the formation of a women’s national team. When asked whether he would like Afghanistan to field a women’s team in international tournaments, he replied, “Yes, absolutely.”
Khan noted that the existence of a women’s team is one of the key requirements set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for Afghanistan to be recognized as a full member.
He emphasized that women’s participation in cricket would not only contribute to the growth and development of the sport in Afghanistan, but would also have a positive impact on the country’s international image.
Rashid Khan added that decision-making authority on this issue lies with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the ICC, stressing that as a player he has no direct role in determining the outcome.
He further said that he continues to support positive steps toward the advancement of women’s cricket and hoped Afghan women will one day compete on the international stage.
