China Red Cross Donates $100,000 to Flood Victims in Afghanistan

DID Press: Red Cross Society of China allocated $100,000 in emergency cash assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society to support families affected by recent flooding across Afghanistan.

The aid was formally handed over in a ceremony by Bao Shuhui to Shahabuddin Delawar, with Afghan Red Crescent officials stating that the funds will be distributed transparently and fairly among vulnerable households.

Delawar thanked China for its continued support, saying such assistance is critical in times of crisis, while emphasizing that efforts will be made to ensure the aid reaches the most affected populations.

Bao Shuhui said the donation reflects China’s broader humanitarian commitment to Afghanistan and pledged continued support in the future.

Afghanistan has faced severe seasonal flooding in recent months, worsening an already fragile humanitarian situation driven by economic instability, drought, and weak infrastructure.

Heavy rainfall has triggered flash floods across multiple provinces, particularly in northern, northeastern, and central regions, causing widespread destruction of homes, farmland, and critical infrastructure, and displacing thousands of families.

Humanitarian agencies warn that the destruction of agricultural land and livestock has further deepened food insecurity in affected areas, where many communities rely heavily on farming for survival.
