Taliban Detain 2 Shopkeepers Over Filming Herat Protest Shooting
DID Press: Taliban authorities have detained two shopkeepers in western Afghanistan’s Herat province after they allegedly filmed security forces opening fire on protesters, according to local sources.

Residents in the Jebrail area said the two men were arrested after footage recorded from outside their shops captured the moment a Taliban member appeared to fire toward demonstrators during unrest on June 9. The video circulated widely on social media and drew significant public attention.
The footage shows an armed Taliban member aiming and discharging a weapon in the direction of protesters, prompting widespread reactions online.
The arrests come after the United Nations confirmed that a teenage boy was killed during the Herat protests after being shot by Taliban forces, while several others were reportedly injured in beatings.
The demonstrations were linked to public anger over the detention of women by Taliban authorities, sparking protests in parts of the city.
