Islamjar Pushes for Faster TAPI Implementation
DID Press: Taliban governor of Herat has called for accelerating the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project during a meeting with the project head in Afghanistan and the deputy consul of Turkmenistan, while also proposing a joint trade exhibition along the Turghundi–Serkhetabad border.

According to a statement from the governor’s office in Herat, Noor Ahmad Islamjar proposed establishing a joint Afghanistan–Turkmenistan exhibition in the Turghundi (Afghanistan) and Serkhetabad (Turkmenistan) border area. He said such an initiative could expand trade ties, promote domestic products, and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
In response, Begeng Abdullayev welcomed the proposal and praised local authorities in Herat for their continued cooperation in advancing the TAPI project, describing it as an important factor in accelerating its implementation.
The TAPI pipeline—Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India—is considered one of the region’s key energy infrastructure projects, designed to transport Turkmen natural gas through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India. It is widely viewed as a strategic initiative to enhance regional energy connectivity and economic integration.
