19 Fire Engines Begin Operations at Herat Industrial Park

DID Press: Nineteen fire engines purchased by Afghan business owners at a cost of around $2 million have begun operating at the Herat Industrial Park, according to local officials.

Officials said the vehicles will be operated by trained and professional personnel and will be capable of responding to fires and other emergencies within the industrial park and, when necessary, in Herat city.

Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban-appointed governor of Herat, described the initiative as positive news for industrialists, saying the new fire engines could play an important role in protecting factories and investments and ensuring a faster response to emergencies.

The initiative comes as industrial facilities in Herat seek to strengthen emergency-response capacity and reduce the risks posed by fires to businesses and industrial infrastructure.
