Afghanistan’s attorney general office (AGO) has suspended head of the country’s football federation (FF) Keramuddin Keram, and five members of the body after allegations of sexual abuse of female footballers, president Ghani’s aid confirmed.

The allegations had been released on media outlets last week, triggering investigations both by FIFA and Afghan authorities.
President Ashraf Ghani’s adviser Fazel Fazly said in a twitter post that the move was taken after reviewing of the allegations by the Attorney General’s Office.

The issue was raised by a member of the Afghan Football Federation, Khalida Popal, who claimed that woman members of the federation are abused physically and sexually by male members of the AFF at its headquarters and at a training camp in Jordan.

Afghanistan Football Federation has rejected the allegations as baseless.
