Afghanistan, Uzbekistan Sign Cooperation Agreements


President Ghani and his Uzbek counterpart Shaat Mirziyoyev, signed bilateral cooperation agreements Tuesday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Afghanistan and Uzbekistan signed 20 documents and more than 40 export contracts following the talks between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and president Gani.
The 20 documents aimed at further strengthening cooperation in the political, economic, investment, transport, communication, scientific, educational and other spheres.

The documents include establishment of a joint commission on security issues, provision of legal assistance in civil, family and criminal cases, the construction of Surkhan-Puli Khumri transmission line, the Mazari-Sharif-Shibirgan-Maymana-Herat railway, the interaction in the field of cargo transportation and customs.

In addition, more than 40 export contracts were signed for a total amount of over $ 500 million within the framework of the visit.
President Ghani meanwhile thanked the Uzbek President for his support to peace and stability in Afghanistan and added that the Uzbek leader has laid the foundation of an agenda for regional cooperation.
