Government Fails Providing Security as 1500 Family Displaced

A number of Sar-e Pul residents living in Balk province launched a protest rally inside Balkh’s provincial council yard, saying they are tired of insecurity in the province and urged the government to help them as soon as possible.

“Ab Kalan area in Sancharak district of Sar-e Pul province is on the verge of collapse by the Taliban, and according to the Taliban’s movement, over 1500 families have been displaced and abandoned their houses,” said Akbar Jafari, a resident of Sar-e Pul province.
“We want security, we are tired of war and misery. People have been displaced from their homes under twenty degrees and have taken refuge in the mountain caves. Six people were killed and two were wounded during the Taliban attacks,” he added.

Hamida Naseri, another resident of Sar-e Pul province in Balkh said: “we want the government to pay attention. We do not want people to be displaced due to war and security.” She added that Mirzaolang incident should not be repeated once again.

Zabihullah Amani, a spokesman for Sar-e Pul’s governor said: “the Afghan government pledged to launch air and ground raids at a suitable weather condition.
“the enemy’s movement increased after the parliamentary election in Sar-e Pul’s Sancharak district, during the time, Taghay Khaja and Tebar areas fell to the enemy,” he added.

This comes as 6 persons were killed and 2 were wounded during the insurgents’ attacks on Ab Kalan area of Sancharak district on 12 November.
The residents of Sar-e Pul province expressed concerns that Mirza Olang incident might be repeated once again in this province.
