Gunmen Kill 5 Demining Workers in Kandahar: Local police

Five demining workers were killed by gunmen in southern Kandahar province on Monday morning, provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq confirmed.


Five demining workers were killed by gunmen in southern Kandahar province on Monday morning, provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq confirmed.
According to him, one of the demining workers was abducted by the gunmen.

The incident took place in Malang Kariz area of Maiwand district while the workers were clearing the TAPI pipe line region of IEDs.

General Raziq said the demining workers had been employed by Aims De-mining Company (AMDC) and had been working to clear an area that will be part of the TAPI pipe line project.

No group or individuals have yet claimed responsibility.
