Moscow to Host Intra-Afghan Dialogue tomorrow

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Russia, Moscow will host a meeting between Taliban and Afghan politicians on May 27.


On the occasion of the 100th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Russia, Moscow will host a meeting between Taliban and Afghan politicians on May 27.
A number of Afghan politicians, including former President Hamid Karzai, and a number of Taliban members have been invited to the meeting to discuss issues related to Afghanistan, particularly the peace process.

The Russian ambassador to Kabul Alexander Mantytskiy invited former President Hamid Karzai and he has Accepted the invitation with pleasure.
“Accepting the invitation, the former president termed relations between the two countries as among the oldest and most important,” Karzai twitted.
Ahmadullah Alizai, an invited politician also said that “any effort in anywhere is helpful for peace because the people of Afghanistan want peace.”

“It is possible that it will strengthen visits, but there is no specific issue for peace that ought to be discussed,” said Rahim Beg Yaqubi, member of the High Peace Council.
“Moscow should change its politics and should try to provide the condition for a meeting between the Afghan government and the Taliban,” said Shinkai Karokhail, an MP.

The Afghan government, however, did not comment whether it has been invited to the meeting or not, but reports indicate that the High Peace Council’s Chairman Mohammad Karim Khalili has been invited.
