Over 14 Thousand Votes Declared Invalid in Herat

Officials of the electoral complaints commissions in western Herat province said the commission has reviewed 216 complaints.

“based on the documents, the votes of 11 polling stations of the province are invalid,” said Freshta Hesham, the head of Herat’s electoral complaints commission (ECC).
“The polling centers where their votes have been revoked include “Soltani street”, “Khelwa Ka”, “Qarabagh”, “Dasht-e Naizan”, “Chenaran”, a place from the Jami high school, several places from Shindand district, and a place from the Gabrail, which the votes were entered into the Commission’s database twice,” she added.
The Afghan parliamentary elections were held on 20 October 2017.

According to her, in Herat constituency, 14461 ballot papers have been revoked in total which is unique across the country.
“The primary list of the winning candidates in the province might witness dramatic changes by invalidation of these votes and even eliminating them from the final list will be expected,” she added.
