The preparation of research reports is, undoubtedly, one of the most pressing needs of the media community. Media agencies have always emphasised on the publication of research reports in Afghanistan.
Nai- Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan says “preparing research reports should be a media priority in a system where corruption is widespread”.
Hamidah Ziwari, a teaching instructor, announced a three-year plan by Nai’s bureau in northern Balkh province, in which journalists receive training on how to prepare research reports.
“At a workshop, Nai bureau trains 13 journalists from northern media outlets to provide research reports,” she said. “preparing a research report is a necessity for media and the community,” she added, “urging the media community to focus more on publishing research reports.”

Wahida Faizi, a reporter for Ariana TV and a participant of the workshop describes such training courses effective for journalists.
Shamsuddin, another reporter who attended the course said: such programs will help journalists in writing research reports.

According to experts, preparing research reports is a key work of media outlets which have not well-suited in the Afghan media outlets.
Lack of technical cadres in the media, lack of attention by media managers, rule of law and insecurity are among issues which led to the lack of growth in this profession, the experts believe.

although there are thousands of subjects in every corner of Afghanistan for a research report, journalists are less concerned with it.
Bijan Bernawich, a journalist in Balkh province told DID Press Agency that providing a research report is great but it needs time and budget which reporters have less access to it.
According to him, most media outlets work in exchange of foreign institutions projects which led to a lack of interest in the preparation of the research report.

Yet, some good research reports have been fulfilled by some media outlets in the country, but it is not enough.
