Russia Invites Ta-liban to Coming Moscow Format meeting

DID Press: Russian Ambassador in Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov met Amir Khan Muttaqi acting head of Foreign Ministry and invited him to participate in the coming Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan.


The Ambassador of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zhirnov called on the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi and discussed the upcoming
Moscow Format, twitted Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad.
According to him, the Russian ambassador invited Muttaqi to participate in the coming Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan.

Muttaqi expressed gratitude for the invitation, adding that Moscow Format plays a vital role in fostering coordination among the countries in the region.
He expressed hope that both Kabul and Moscow will make good use of the meeting within the framework of diplomatic relations.
Muttaqi also reminded the Russian ambassador to facilitate visas issuance so that both businessmen and other Afghans may easily travel to Russia, Hafiz Zia Ahmad added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not officially commented on the date of this meeting and the invitation of the Taliban.
In the previous meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan in November 2022, Russia did not invite the representatives of the Taliban due to the lack of establishment of an “inclusive political-ethnic” government.
Representatives from ten regional countries, including Iran and Pakistan, participated in that regional meeting.
Moscow Format comprises Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
