US forces in Afghanistan said in a statement that two US service members were killed as a result of helicopter crash in Afghanistan Logar province.
The statement said that the cause of the crash is under investigation, however preliminary reports do not indicate it was caused by enemy fire.
“In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete,” added the statement.
The Taliban group, meanwhile, claims that they shot down a US helicopter in Logar province on Tuesday night.
The incident takes place just one day after three Haqqani members were freed in exchange for two foreign professors.
