Regional Security Blocs to Hold Talks on Central Asia, Afghanistan
DID Press: Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) announced that it will hold a joint meeting with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) later this year to discuss security developments in Central Asia and the situation in Afghanistan.

According to the CSTO, the meeting is aimed at strengthening regional coordination in response to growing security threats. Talgat Musabayev said the conference is scheduled for the second half of the current year.
Russian state news agency TASS reported that the CSTO regularly conducts high-level consultations with the SCO and CIS, and the upcoming gathering will continue those efforts.
The conference will primarily focus on the security landscape in Central Asia and ongoing developments in Afghanistan. Senior officials from the three regional organizations are expected to discuss deeper coordination against emerging regional threats.
The CSTO secretary general also said the organization plans to expand engagement with other regional structures, including Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the African Union, as part of broader international cooperation against transnational security challenges.
The strong focus on Afghanistan reflects increasing regional concern over the country’s security situation and its wider implications for neighboring states.
