Iran’s Meraj Airlines Launches First Flight to Kandahar
DID Press: The first flight of Iran’s Meraj Airlines has landed in Kandahar, with Taliban officials saying the new air route could strengthen connectivity and expand economic ties between Afghanistan and Iran.

The aircraft arrived at Kandahar’s Ahmad Shah Abdali International Airport, marking the airline’s inaugural service on this route.
Taliban authorities stated that the new flight is expected to facilitate trade, tourism, and broader economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Meraj Airlines has previously operated flights to Balkh province, with local officials reporting plans for weekly flights to Balkh and multiple weekly services to Kabul.
Meraj Airlines is a private Iranian carrier established in 2010 under Iran’s civil aviation authority. The airline operates domestic and regional routes and, like many Iranian carriers, functions under ongoing international aviation-related restrictions affecting parts of the sector.
The new connection comes as Iran’s aviation industry continues to operate under limited international constraints.
