DID Press: Hossein Mohebi, a spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States accepts the conditions set by the Islamic Republic.
Mohebi said the strait is currently closed and claimed that no enemy military vessels are present inside the Persian Gulf. He added that all hostile warships are positioned more than 400 km from the Strait of Hormuz, and that no vessel is permitted to pass through the waterway without authorization from Iran.
The IRGC spokesperson also claimed that the waters near Oman are under Iran’s full control, while emphasizing that the Strait of Hormuz belongs to both Iran and Oman.
Mohebi said Iran held negotiations with the Omani government a month ago and that the two sides reached agreements acceptable to both parties, including an understanding over each country’s share of the waters of the Strait of Hormuz.
He accused the United States of obstructing the talks between Iran and Oman and called on Washington to end what he described as interference and return to the understanding reached between the two sides.
Mohebi warned that unless the United States accepts Tehran’s conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened.
