Major NATO Allies View US as Unreliable Partner

DID Press: A new Politico survey indicates growing skepticism among key NATO allies toward the United States, with significant portions of respondents in Germany, France and Canada viewing Washington as an unreliable partner.

The poll, conducted in the three countries, found that many citizens no longer consider the United States capable of effectively deterring threats or consistently supporting its allies.

According to the findings, half of adults in Germany and 57% in Canada described the United States as an unstable ally. In France, respondents who characterized the U.S. as unreliable significantly outnumbered those who viewed it as a dependable partner.

The results raise fresh questions about the durability of the decades-old international order and America’s role within it.

Analysts say the perceived decline in U.S. standing and the erosion of trust among Western partners could have significant implications for the future of transatlantic relations and global alliance structures.
