DID Press: The relocation of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington from Japan to the Middle East will temporarily leave the United States without an aircraft carrier in the western Pacific, according to Axios. The move, intended to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln, has raised questions about Washington’s ability to maintain a simultaneous military presence in both regions.

Meanwhile, Newsweek, citing experts, reported that the prolonged deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln is affecting not only the carrier’s operational readiness and crew conditions but also imposing significant financial costs.
According to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office, operating the carrier costs approximately $5.5 million per day, while its 269-day deployment has cost the US government nearly $1.5 billion.
Taken together, the two reports highlight growing operational gaps in Asia and mounting costs in the Middle East, raising fresh questions about the United States’ ability to sustain its military and strategic commitments across two critical theaters.
