Nangarhar Handed over to the Taliban

Reports from Nangarhar indicate that the city of Jalalabad has been handed over to the Taliban without a fight.


A member of the Nangarhar provincial council said that last night (August 14) Ziaulhaq Amarkhail, the governor, handed over the province to the Taliban without a fight.

Footages posted on social media show the Taliban in the Nangarhar governor’s office. Ziaulhaq Amarkhail, the governor of Nangarhar, is also among the Taliban.

The capitals of Faryab, Balkh, Laghman, and Daikundi provinces also fell last night. With this, the Taliban now controls 27 of the 34 provinces.
Most cities have been handed over to the Taliban without clashes.
Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Khost, Nuristan, and Bamyan remain under government control.
