US Service Member Killed in Afghanistan: NATO

A U.S. service member was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday, the NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in a statement.

A U.S. service member was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday, the NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in a statement.
“the U.S. combat death toll this year reaches to eight,” said Debra Richardson Spokesperson for the Resolute Support in Afghanistan said.
“the identity of the service member and details about the incident will be shared at a later stage,” the spokesperson added.

This comes as the mayor of a small Utah city was also killed earlier this month in an apparent insider attack.
The attacker was a member of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces and was immediately killed by other Afghan forces, the NATO-led Resolute Support coalition said.
The Pentagon says there are about 14,000 U.S. service members in Afghanistan.
