Women Should be Part of Peace Talks: Samar

Sima Samar, chairperson of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission said late Tuesday that Afghan women should be part of peace talks.
Addressing “women’s role in ensuring justice and human rights” conference in Kabul, she said that “women fear peace and the coming of Taliban, they must have a meaningful presence in such matters”.

The head of the Afghan independent human rights commission called on women to be on the scene.
“Nobody gives the right to us as a gift. We have to sacrifice and be vigilant in the scene. Women should know what is going on in the peace process,” she added. Stressing that “The victims of war have not been included in the peace talks. They must be directly involved in these talks”.
