Ghani Wins Election, Abdullah Not Accepts
M. Ashraf Ghani declared the winner of the Afghan presidential poll, however, his rival Abdullah Abdullah along with the members of his team said at a press conference that the results are “illegal” and his team will form an “inclusive” government.

Following the announcement of the election results on Tuesday night, M. Ashraf Ghani, who declared as the winner, said: “We have achieved the victory by people’s votes and endurance and also saved it from foreign conspiracies”.
“The embrace of the Republic of Afghanistan and the government of Afghanistan is open to all who believe in the Islamic system. We consider the government as a trust of the whole Afghan nation and have no sense of excitement as a group, individual or an ethnic group,” said Ashraf Ghani. “We announce to everyone that the time of competitions is over. I do not see anyone as a rival, enemy and opponent. I call on all that the time of competitions is ended. Today, it is the moment of sharing and the moment of helping the tormented nation,” he added.
According to Mr Ghani, the nation’s demand and instruction are to heal the pain and end the bitter past.
Meanwhile, CE Abdullah Abdullah along with the members of his team, in response to the announcement of election results, said during a press conference that the results are illegal and his team will form an inclusive government.
The CE said that the IEC’s decision was a coup against democracy, demanding his fans to defend their rights.
“According to transparent election results, our team won the election,” he added.
The result echoes 2014, when both Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah alleged massive fraud by the other side, which resulted in a power-sharing arrangement that made Ghani president and Abdullah Abdullah his chief executive.
