“That is still going forward. We expect to meet that within the timeline laid out under the agreement with the Taliban,” Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said during a press briefing on Friday.
The United States has agreed with the Taliban to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan within 14 months and the Taliban to negotiate with the Afghan government in return.
Although the United States adheres to the agreement, experts believe that the Taliban will not adhere to the agreement and will not negotiate with the Afghan government after the withdrawal of the Americans.
The experts believe that the Taliban are seeking a military victory and the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate.
